PhD and Masters by Research thesis Print Copy Deposit

One bound copy of every PhD or Masters by Research thesis must be submitted to the UNSW@ADFA Student Adminstrative Services for deposit in the UNSW@ADFA Academy Library.

NOTE: DO NOT submit directly to the Academy Library.

Guidelines for bound copy submission

  • Theses to be bound in boards, covered with buckram
  • Theses which include mounted photographs, folded graphs, etc should have the leaves packed at the spine to ensure even thickness of the volume.
  • The bound thesis should be lettered on the spine as follows:

    1. at the bottom and across - UNSW; or if the volume is too thin for this – UNSW may be printed vertically
    2. 70mm from the bottom and across, with the degree and year of submission of the thesis
    3. evenly spaced between the statement of the degree and the year and the top of the spine, the name of the candidate, initials first and then the surname, reading upwards in one line.

No further lettering or decoration is required on the spine or anywhere on the binding.

  • Theses should be presented on acid free permanent paper in a permanent legible original typescript - printed copy, laser printed copy, computer carbon ribbon - or a good quality photocopy of one of these. Faded, dirty or faint copies are not acceptable.
  • Theses must be processed through the UNSW@ADFA Student Administration Services who will then forward it to the Academy Library

Binders

Binding should be done by a commercial binder, who is aware of the University's requirements.

Restricted Access & Confidentiality of Doctoral and Masters by Research Theses

It is University policy that a thesis produced from a research higher degree should be publicly available; however, the University recognises that there are certain circumstances for which immediate public availability of the thesis in the Academy Library may not be desirable. For further information about restricting your thesis contact the UNSW@ADFA Student Administrative Services.

If you require any further assistance contact the Academy Library UNSWorks/ADT Coordinator
