What is RefWorks?

RefWorks is a bibliographic management tool that enables you to create and organise your own personal database of references and citations. You can use RefWorks to add citations while you write a paper and format the paper in the referencing style you choose, adding both in-text references and a bibliography to your paper.

RefWorks is web-based so it is available at any time, from any computer with an Internet connection. It can be used with all major web browsers and is compatible with multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac and Unix.

Accessing RefWorks

The first time you access RefWorks you must setup an individual account:

  1. Click here to go to RefWorks.
  2. If a Security Information box pops up, click Yes.
  3. Click on Sign up for an Individual Account, and ensure the form is for the Academy Library, UNSW@ADFA.
  4. Complete the form.
  5. Click Register.

If you already have an account, go to RefWorks enter your Log-in Name and Password then click Login.

Note: If you have lost any of your registration details, click the Forgot your log-in? link on the RefWorks User login screen, enter your email address in the box provided and RefWorks will re-send the details to you.

RefShare

RefShare provides RefWorks users with a quick and easy way to share their database (or folders) with members of their own institution and globally with others.
