Ordering Materials

Each Academic School is allocated a one-line budget from Library funds which can be used for the purchase of books, periodicals, inter library loans and document delivery services and online database searches. A monthly report of expenditure is provided by the Library to Library Liaison representatives and Heads of Schools.

For matters relating to book vote allocations, contact Sue Beatty, Technical Services Librarian on 02 6268 8101.

Library materials are generally acquired within the context of the relevant collection profile, in accordance with the following priorities, in descending order of importance :

  • Materials to support current teaching and course work of the Academic and Military programs of the Academy;
  • Materials required for the research needs of the University College;
  • General reference works and works in subject fields not directly related to University College programs but which are of such importance that they belong in any scholarly library;
  • Materials to assist administrative personnel in the effective performance of their work.

Ordering Books and Multimedia Material
Each School has its own mechanism for processing requests for purchase. In the first instance see your Library Liaison representative or the Head of School. Alternatively, please see your School Secretary/Administrator or contact Sue Beatty, Technical Services Librarian on 02 6268 8101.

To assist us with the processing of the order, please send any publisher's catalogues or blurbs relating to every order.

Serial Subscriptions or Standing Orders
Serial subscriptions or standing orders will be set up by the Library on receipt of a written (or e-mail) request authorised by your Head of School. Please contact your Library Liaison representative or your Head of School or contact Janet Perfrement, Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian on 02 6268 8125.
