The
Academy Library offers an extensive InfoSkills Program to staff and
students based on the UNSW@ADFA
Teaching and Learning guidelines.
The program offers a wide range of tools and options to assist
users of all levels to develop their Information
Literacy skills and compentencies
to enhance professional and personal learning capabilities.
In addition to improving skills in finding, evaluating and using
information, the program also aims to help you make effective use
of the Library's
services and resources.
What skills does the InfoSkills Program develop?
- information retrieval techniques (catalogue, databases, web
searching) in specific subject areas
- how to keep up to date with relevant information
- how to select and evaluate information and its sources
- how to manage information (citation styles, RefWorks, EndNote)
The Program encompasses the following:
- Orientation Tours -
Tours of the Library and overviews of
the Library's services and collections;
- Generic sessions -
'How to' information classes on a range
of topics applicable across disciplines, eg. How to develop
search strategies, Using Sirius, etc;
