Library Information Commons Project – Stage One
Library Information Commons Project is an Academy Library strategic
initiative to be completed by the first quarter of 2006. Information
Commons will offer UNSW@ADFA students, staff and community user’s
integrated access to electronic information, multimedia and print
resources in technology enhanced learning environments within the
library building.
Information Commons is a centre offering state of the art technology
and a physical environment for enhancing learning, communication
and collaboration among clients. It will also provide one-stop
shopping, to foster literacy, and to facilitate research and learning.
The physical lay-out of the Information Commons area will offer
clients a variety of usage options from using; fixed technology
including software applications like Microsoft Office, to more
specific task orientated software; Hotdesks for using laptops utilising
Wireless protocols, lounge seating and group seating for discussion
and teamwork.
