Mission
The Academy Library, UNSW @ ADFA, ensures the provision and
promotion of access to knowledge and information. It supports research
and undergraduate and postgraduate study within the University College,
and the military study and training programmes of the Academy.
General Information
Major national collections in International Defence, Strategic Studies,
and Military History and major ACT collections in Engineering and
Australian Literature are included in the Library's holdings of
approximately 424 000 volumes. There are current subscriptions to
some 1 400 periodical titles in print and and over 32 000 electronic
journals and newspapers, with over 21 000 of these available in
full text.
Online searches are available to identify material on particular
topics, and over 220 databases and web resources are available
via the Library's CrossSearch
service. Materials in other Australian and overseas libraries
may be obtained by inter library
loan or online document delivery. The Multimedia
Service enables staff and students to use video, DVD, CD-ROMs,
audio tapes, etc. Photocopiers and microfiche and microfilm reader-printers
are available.
Library materials are purchased, catalogued and lent by means of
an integrated computer system.

Assistance in the use of the Library and its resources is available
via the Service desk on the Ground floor. Guides to services and
resources are available in print and online via the Library's web
site. Orientation and InfoSkills
classes on library use are held regularly.
