Objectives

the Australian people bearing in mind teaching and research priorities.
1. Major Subject Interests
Military arts and history
Australian politics and government (including foreign policy).
Australian history (including biography, history of science and technology).
Australian literature: poetry, drama, novels, essays:
All works by Australian authors merit consideration. Australian authorship
is defined as :-
An author born in Australia with residence in Australia.
One who has been recognised as an Australian, though residence in Australia
has not been continuous.
One who, though not born in Australia, has been identified through long
residence and work in Australia as an Australian.
Australian geography.
The Australian economy.
NOTE Many of the above subject areas are already covered
by other Profiles.

There is no chronological limitation on Australiana interest.
3. Geographical Coverage
There is no geographic limitation on Australiana interest.
The term 'Australiana' is used here to include the Commonwealth of Australia
and its Territories.
Military arts and history coverage also includes New Zealand and Papua
New Guinea.
4. Does material
become dated in this field? If so, how far back is material generally
significant?

Normally English language only.
