Chapter Title - Search Hints

To find a chapter in a book

When you are referred to a chapter citation, make sure that you can properly identify the title of the chapter. This will sometimes be in italics or underlined.

For Example:

Forbes, Vivian Louis, "Geopolitical Change: Direction and Continuing Issues", in Southeast Asia Transformed: a Geography of Change. Singapore: ISEAS, 2003, pp. 47-94.

  • The title of the chapter is "Geopolitical Change: Direction and Continuing Issues"
  • The title of the book is Southeast Asia Transformed: a Geography of Change

The following search will retrieve the catalogue record for this book.

Another way of locating chapters in books is the use the Guided Search option, see the example below:

1. Select the Guided Search tab and type in the chapter title (select the following options: as a phrase and Keyword Anywhere).

Note:
The Academy Library has been adding to the catalogue records the chapters and sub chapters from most books, and sometimes the keywords from indices, since 1986.

2. Select the Contents tab to look at the chapter titles for this book. In the example below the item we were looking for will be chapter 2 in the book entitled Southeast Asia transformed: a geography of change.
