Recall - Hints

This service is only available to Academy Staff and Students. If the book, DVD or videorecording that you want is on loan, you can recall it. Recalled materials take up to 7days to return to the Library and you will be notified by email when the item has been returned.

Note: If you are an Off Campus Student, please use the request forms located on the Library Services for Off Campus Students page. Located at http://www.lib.adfa.edu.au/distance_ed/distance_services.htm.

1. Search the library catalogue for a book called "How to bake a cake". The holdings record status indicates that the material is on loan so this item is able to be recalled. The number after Recall Requests means that there is 1 person waiting for this book to return

2. At the top of the sceen click on the Request link to login and enter your details as described below.

3. Enter your 5 digit borrower barcode number with the prefix A, for example A73427, and then your family name.

4. Click Login.

The example below also advises you of how many recalls you have left. If you are under the limit, click on OK and continue.

Note: if an error message appears, try again and then ask for help at the Services Desk if you still can't place your recall. If you have any overdue books then you will not be permitted to recall items.

5. A recall request form will now appear:

  • The Borrower Barcode field must be completed.
  • You do not have to enter or alter any other fields unless there is more than one copy of a book then select Any Copy to make sure you receive the copy which is returned first.
  • To protect the privacy of your borrower information, it is important to click Logout or Exit from the catalogue screen when you have finished using the service.

How do I know when my recalled material is ready for me to collect?

  • Check your borrower record regularly through MyLibrary to find out if the recalled material is available for you to pick up. You will also receive an email advising you that the book is ready for collection.
