Journals include serials, newspapers, magazines, periodicals and
yearbooks. These may be available in print or electronic form. To
find a journal article you need to search the source of the article.
If you have an article citation, make sure that you have identified
the title of the journal as distinct from the title of the article.
For Example:
James C Anderson, "Business marketing: understanding what
customers value", Harvard Business Review, 76 (6), Nov/Dec
1998: 53-62.
The source of this article in the example above is: Harvard
Business Review.
Important tips to remember when
searching for a journal title:
type in the words of the title in exact order (eg.
Harvard Business Review)
omit the, a, an
if it is at the beginning of a title
you do not need to enter the whole title, just the start
of it
omit punctuation and capital letters

Note: Be aware that if you have
a journal article citation, you will not normally find that item
catalogued at the individual journal article level. If the article
appears on a lecturer's reading list, you will be able to find the
item by searching the catalogue by the article title as well as
being able to find the item via the Course
Reserve search option.
Location and Availability
Within the record, the Location and Call Number will
tell you where to find a journal in the Library. There is also information
about which recent issues of this journal have been received.
Note:the hyphen
after (1968) indicates that the Library continues to receive issues
of this journal as they are published. If there is a date after
the hyphen, this indicates when the Library stopped receiving issues
for this journal. For this example, the Library has all issues from
v.46(1968) onwards, but there are some volumes that are incomplete.
If we are looking for volume 76, issue 6 Nov/Dec 1998,
the Library holdings above indicate this issue is available.

Full Text Electronic Journals
Be aware that the Library has access to thousands
of journals, bulletins, and newspapers in electronic form, for which
there are no records in the main catalogue.
If you are a student or a staff member, you can also search for
Full Text Electronic Journals holdings
through the Library's Electronic Resources
page. Electronic Journals can be searched
by Title, ISSN (International Standard Serial Number), Subject categories
and alphabetically by Title.
