Welcome to the UNSW@ADFA Library Catalogue Tutorial

This tutorial provides step by step instructions for performing searches and using the many functions within the Library Catalogue.Please read the instructions below before moving on to the Contents page or the exercises.

Clicking on a link in the Contents page (e.g. Title Initial Words) will take you to a page of hints and instructions designed to help you use the catalogue as effectively as possible. From each hints page you can Have a Go by doing the exercises that accompany this tutorial.

will take you from a Hints page to the exercises for you to try.

These exercises will ask you to find out information by performing a search in the catalogue via your second browser window.

To submit your answer after each search, simply return to the tutorial and click on the answer that you think is correct. An answer box will pop up to give you feedback and suggestions.

After you have read the response,  it is important to close the answer box by  clicking on the Close Window prompt or the X in the top right hand corner. 

If you wish to revisit the instructions during the exercise, click in the Search Hints link along the bottom of the page.

If you are not sure what to do, click on the  Hints link to have another look at the hints page. 

The Next Topic link will take you to the next section of the tutorial. You can also use the links in the side bar to jump to another topic within the tutorial.

To complete this tutorial you will need to have two browser windows open:

- one with the tutorial hints or exercises.
-
the other for searching  the Library's catalogue.   Open a second window now.

Note: To move between the windows:

PC - hold down the ALT key and press the TAB key.
MAC - click on the appropriate window and hold down the APPLE key and press the "~" key.

To achieve the best results we encourage you to complete this tutorial in the order it has been presented .
